A sister has joined

A special friend has joined the family of those who are journeying toward Sisterlocs. She sent her blog link to me today, and I was so excited. I was bouncing off the walls with joy because I know that she is a beautiful person and her journey will be such an inspiration to many others.

Ms. N, I am so proud of you, and I know your Teddy Bear will support you 200% in this journey.
You have been emanicipated from the LYE!

Congratulations!

Merry Christmas 2009

The all my blog readers and fellow lockers, I wish you a Merry Christmas. Take time to relish the opportunity you have to spend time with your loved ones. Let go of any hard feelings, let them know how much you love them.

Remember that if it had not been for the birth of Jesus, we would not have this wonderful day off to spend with friends and family.

Why I love my locks

1. Because I don't have to comb my hair
2. Because it looks good with just water and go
3. Because they don't smell burnt
4. Because they grow quickly
5. Because my locks don't look like anyone else locs.
6. Because I can go from corporate to cool, with a hairpin
7. Because I don't have bad hair days anymore
8. Because I'm no longer afraid of water
I will have to add and edit reason as I go along

I WAS BUSTED YESTERDAY

YEP, CAUGHT RED HANDED.

See what had happened was... I was getting ready for church, and I was standing in front of the mirror, checking things out and I started swinging my head from side to side, and laughing as my hair easily flowed and moved. Just as I decided it was time to stop being cute, my husband walks in and says, keep swinging your head like that and you'll get dizzy.

LOL, Sisterlocs make you do some funny things.

Over the Counter Questions-Corporate World

So today at work I was helping a customer with a rebate application. She was very pleasant and at the end of her transaction, she pointed to my head and asked "what are those, twists?" I smiled and responded no, these are SisterLocs.

She tilted her head to the side and asked "how long do you keep those in?" I told these stay in forever, I have them retightened every six weeks. "Wow" she said. "How long did it take to put them in?"

36 hours was my reply.

At this point she turned to her handsome blond hair, blue eyed son and said.
"This is what women go through to be beautiful for men, don't you ever take a womans beauty for granted."

My mouth dropped in shock! She was teaching this little boy the value of a womans worth, and she used me as a lesson for his life!

Rub a Dub, I got to Scrub

Thank you Lord, my consultant let me do a wash today! I braid and banded my hair and I went at my scalp with the pads of my finfertips. Once I was satisfied scalp was clean, I saturated my braids and squeezed the shampoo through. It was such a simple pleasure and it gave me such joy. I can not tell you how hard it was for me to go without hair washing for a couple of weeks. But now my hair is clean and smelling like roses.

You see I have a disease called "HTB" HEAD TILT BACK. Every time I step in the shower my head would tilt back for water. LOL. I love to wet my head in the mornings. If you have recently had your Sisterlocs installed, please follow the directions of your consultant, she/he is the one who took the training class and is best suited to tell you how to care for your hair.

Have you ever heard the term "Hair Candy?" Thats what some people call barrettees, you know those pretty things that we like to wear in our hair. Since I had my locks installed I have started a collection of Hair Candy. Here are some photos of the collection I have started. How many pieces of Hair Candy do you have?

Completed Locs Week 3

This is the end of week 3 and my locks are filling in nicely. I love my hair more each day that passes. I get more compliments on my hair each day, and I have found a new self confidence. It is such a joy to have freedom from the stresses of hair styling. Come on over to the freedom side. Once you are here you will not want to go back.

Allow me to introduce Tyler Grigio

This is the boss in our family, his name is Tyler and he is a two year old Bichon Frise. He weighs 10 lbs and is a loving bundle of trouble. His favorite activity is to sit on the back of a chair and wrap himself around my neck. He thinks hes a cat.

He is a sweet dog, but he can be extremely jealous. So in the future when I speak of Mr. Grigio you now have a point of reference.
So tonight when I came home from work I spotted something very pink under a chair in my family room. Tyler greeted me as usual and ran to sit on the back of the chair. As I leaned down and looked closer I realized that my bundle of trouble had retrieved a pink bra from the laundry basket and put it under the chair. LOL
Good thing I wasn't expecting any company!

Oh no, did I pull a locked ball off

I was sitting in bible class tonight, and ran my hand through my locks. A small compacted ball of hair fell down into my bible, it was the size of a eraser. I have been practicing low manipulation since my locks were installed. I don't pull my hair back, I don't wear ponytail. What did I do wrong?

Locs, motivate weight loss

Did you know that locs can inspire you to loss weight? Well they actually eliminate the excuse "I can't work out because I don't want to sweat in my head.

With locs you can do your workout, rinse your hair and keep going. So if that was your reason for delaying a visit to the gym, you can take that off your list.
